Bondi Junction is about to get a whole lot more colourful.
On Thursday 29 October, Oxford Street Mall will transform for a special Day of the Dead Festival, bringing Latin American food, glowing market stalls, live entertainment and plenty of atmosphere to the heart of Bondi Junction.
The festival takes over the Oxford Street Twilight Markets from 4pm to 9pm, right opposite Westfield.
And the best part? It is completely free.
Oxford Street Twilight Markets after dark.
Come hungry
Honestly, the food alone sounds like reason enough to go.
Expect a big mix of Latin American flavours including tacos, quesadillas, tamales, enchiladas, paella, empanadas, arepas and crepes.
Then there is dessert.
Churros, dulce de leche treats, traditional sweets, coconut candy, rice pudding and more.
So perhaps skip the afternoon snack.
More than just a market night
As the sun goes down, Oxford Street will come alive with glowing stalls, shopping and live entertainment, with the regular Twilight Markets getting a colourful Day of the Dead makeover.
The event is designed for all ages, so it works just as well for families looking for something different before Halloween as it does for anyone who is mainly there to eat their way through the night.
Expect plenty of colour, music and atmosphere across the mall.
Free entry, great food and something genuinely different for a Thursday night in Bondi Junction. This one is worth knowing about.
Make a night of it
Come for dinner, browse the stalls, stay for the entertainment and soak up the atmosphere as Oxford Street shifts into festival mode for the evening.
Bring the kids, grab a group of friends or just arrive hungry and see where the night takes you.
