More Alfresco Dining Could Be Coming to Randwick’s Streets

Long lunches, streetside coffees and dinners under the stars. Randwick City Council wants to bring more of the outdoor dining culture we love to the streets of Sydney’s East.

There’s something about dining outdoors that just feels right in the Eastern Suburbs. Whether it’s a morning coffee, a leisurely lunch or a balmy evening with friends, our neighbourhoods were made for it.

Now, Randwick City Council is encouraging more local cafés, restaurants and hospitality businesses to expand their outdoor dining spaces through its alfresco dining program.

Italian-inspired alfresco dining

More Tables, More Atmosphere, More Reasons to Stay Local

The initiative gives eligible hospitality venues the opportunity to use approved road space for additional outdoor seating, creating more places for locals to gather while supporting the businesses that make our neighbourhoods special.

Think lively footpaths, neighbourhood dining strips and a little more European-style street culture right here in Sydney’s East.

Good food, fresh air and a neighbourhood worth lingering in.

Two Local Favourites Already Embracing Alfresco Dining

Among the Randwick restaurants making the most of the alfresco dining initiative are two local Italian favourites.

Dolce Fiori

THE SPOT, RANDWICK

Bringing a taste of Northern Italy to The Spot, Dolce Fiori is known for its Italian dishes, floral surroundings and inviting atmosphere. With alfresco dining, there’s even more reason to settle in and enjoy a long lunch or evening out.

Spaghetteria

CLOVELLY ROAD, RANDWICK

A neighbourhood favourite for Italian pasta, Spaghetteria brings a relaxed approach to dining. Its alfresco seating offers another way to enjoy a pasta lunch or dinner in the heart of Randwick.

Could Your Favourite Local Spot Be Next?

Council is inviting eligible cafés, restaurants and other hospitality businesses to apply, either individually or alongside neighbouring venues.

Approved outdoor dining areas can operate for up to 12 months, with applications assessed against safety, accessibility and street-use requirements.

For businesses, it means the possibility of extra seating and greater street presence. For locals, it’s another reason to stay close to home and support the places we love.
