Bondi Beach is getting its first New Year’s Eve celebration in more than a decade, and local families are getting their own free piece of the action.
On 31 December, Bondi will ring in 2027 with the huge elrow Sydney XXL concert, but alongside the ticketed event will be something made especially for locals.
Locals Lawn will bring a free, family friendly New Year’s Eve celebration to Bondi Beach, complete with an early fireworks display, roaming entertainment, performances and food trucks.

A proper Bondi NYE for families
For families who love the idea of New Year’s Eve at Bondi but perhaps not the midnight finish, this sounds like a pretty good compromise.
Think beach backdrop, entertainment, something to eat, an early fireworks display and the chance to actually enjoy New Year’s Eve without negotiating with overtired children at 11.47pm.

Waverley Council says Locals Lawn will also partner with local businesses and service providers, showcase homegrown performers and support local charities and community groups.

The catch? You’ll need to get lucky in the local resident ballot.
How do you get tickets?
Tickets will be allocated through a local resident ballot, with people living in the Bondi postcode getting first dibs, followed by residents across the broader Waverley Local Government Area.
