Festival of the Winds Is Returning to Bondi Beach
Look up, Bondi! One of Sydney’s biggest and most colourful free events is returning, filling the sky above Bondi Beach with enormous kites and spectacular creations from Australian and international kite flyers.
Festival of the Winds has been transforming Bondi’s skies since 1978, and this year’s celebration brings plenty of action to the beach, park and Pavilion.
Alongside the giant show kites, there’ll be live entertainment, cultural performances, roaming entertainers and food from around the world.
There’s plenty happening on the ground too
Families can enjoy children’s rides, a petting zoo, face painting, circus activities, games on the grass and creative workshops throughout the day.
Bring your own kite, buy one at the festival or make one during a hands-on kite-making workshop before joining the colourful action overhead.

The day’s entertainment includes performances from Suwitra Jaya Gamelan, Bandaluzia Flamenco, The Polynesian Dance Crew, Lemonise and Mister OTT.
Local musicians, schools and dance groups will also perform around Bondi Pavilion, with a Latin dance workshop and all-in social inviting festivalgoers to join the fun.
